I recently saw “Jackass: Best and Last” when it hit VOD, and witnessed a stunning admission from longtime member Steve-O. He stated that he wanted to up the stakes for this final installment — admitting that he was never the MVP of any of the previous films. He name-checked different people, which sort of shocked me, because some of the most notable stunts and pranks involved Steve-O!

But alas, dear reader: Steve-O was right. He was not the MVP of any film until this most recent, and last, one. I’ve done the research, and explored all of the evidence. While he did some standout work in every film, including the Poo Cocktail Supreme, each “Jackass” movie has a different MVP. Let’s dive in and see who ‘won’ every film in the series to date.

‘Jackass: The Movie’

The originator himself, the leader of the bunch. You know him well: It’s Johnny Knoxville, formerly known as PJ Clapp when he wasn’t famous. He kicked off this entire brand with his backyard camera antics and that momentum from the MTV series into this first movie was seamless and perfect.

He had a slew of great bits, gags, memorable moments, and hardcore injuries. His MVP title comes from the following skits: Rent-a-Car Crash-Up Derby, Golf Course Airhorn, Riot Control, Tidal Wave, Department Store Boxing (“is Butter Bean okay?”), Grind This Rail, Muscle Stimulator, Rocket Skates, The Shoplifter (a personal favorite), The Burglars, The Gong, and Golf Carts (that has GOT to hurt).

No one came close to replicating the amount, quality, severity, or hilarity of Johnny’s scenes in this film.

‘Jackass Number Two’

This one was the hardest by far, and might be controversial, but I think Dave England was the secret MVP of “Jackass Number Two,” low key for real fr (as the kids say). Always an underrated member of the cast, he really stepped up on this one to do more than his usual schtick of just shitting on camera into things or on things.

His stunts include Firehose Rodeo (above), Dave Eats Shit (below), Beehive Limo, Airbag Doorbell, Big Green Ball, Big Tire Race, and Miniature Bathroom. Lots of “big” scenes in this movie, and he lived large on screen and in our hearts.

‘Jackass 3D’

As alluded to in “Jackass: Best and Last,” Steve-O name dropped Ryan Dunn being a former MVP. And indeed he was. “Jackass 3D” was Ryan Dunn’s time to shine, and it’s a damn shame he passed away so early into his life.

Ryan’s best came in the following stunts: Jet Engine, Snake River Redemption, Duck Hunting, Porta Potty Cleanser Bomb, Super Mighty Glue, Bungee Boogie, and Ram Jam. RIP dude, you were proper hardcore.

‘Jackass Forever’

By far the easiest, quickest, and most definitive winner of the MVP for any of these “Jackass” movies. Danger Ehren has had a hell of a run, but he was put through the RINGER on this shoot. I do not want to ever be like him, live his life, or be reincarnated as him. He had it ROUGH, let me tell you.

The staggering amount of iconic things this man had to go through is a legendary gauntlet of pain, misery, humiliation, and comedy gold. The never-ending Cup Test. The Dum-Dum Game. Into the Spider-Dome. Human Ramps. Maybe the hardest I’ve ever laughed in a theater in Silence of the Lambs.

And of course, the Lie Detector aka the Bear Prank. What a trooper he is for this one.

‘Jackass: Best and Last’

There aren’t many new sketches in the final Jackass, but out of the ones they did happen to shoot, the MVP is finally…

Larry the Doctor Robot!

No, I’m mostly joking. It’s finally Steve-O. He wanted the smoke, and he got it by doing the majority of the worst (best?) stuff in the film. The Robo Prostate exam, giving Zach Holmes the electroshock tattoo, doing the Ping Pong Ball Trick, and “winning” The Human Pretzel. If you can win such a game. A game (spoilers) involving taking a laxative and playing Twister.

Finally, at long last, Steve-O is the MVP of a Jackass film. And not a moment too late. I salute you, Jackass crew. You brought me so much joy over the past 26 years.
